CAM / Timing Belt question. First time poster here. My Q2 has approached it's 5th birthday and been told it requires a Cam belt change. Official Audi were quoting £650 isa. An indie Audi specialist quoted £420. However, another non Audi indie asked what milage it currently is at. I stated 23,000 miles on the clock - I do very little milage.
My Instruction Manual say's that the Timing belt should be changed at 70K miles. My Skoda Dealer now tells me that this has been changed and the belt should be changed after 3 years even though the car has only 25K on the clock. What do you think? 4 years or 40k miles,whichever come first. Not 3 years. Answered by Honest John on 1 February 2012.
Posted 17 July, 2014 Mine is soon to reach 100k and this has a long life belt. I believe 200k lifespan, i intend to max it out at 150k. At 105k , next oil change, will check the belt ( see if their is any cracking on the belts teeth) and from their check it at every 15k
Posted September 28, 2017. Hi there, all cambelts are mileage and time dependent. Usually they need changing from around 5-7 years or 80k which ever comes first. And the water pump should be changed at the same time. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Hope IV helped.
